Pink Poinsettia, take two ...

Back again, in my earlier post I mentioned that I had created two pink poinsettia cards - this is the one that I'm not too sure about.  I thought about not sharing it but in the end decided that I would as I may not be happy with it but someone else might like it!!

I die cut the image using a Tim Holtz die and then put it all back together again using foam tape to add dimension and interest.

Pink Poinsettia ...

I always thought that all poinsettias were red with some green ... imagine my delight when I checked on google and found that they come in pink as well!  Why did this delight me? ... this week's challenge at TIME OUT is Christmas with the optional twist of using pink/purple ... so the existence of pink poinsettias meant I knew exactly which stamp set to use!  Having created poinsettia card in conventional Christmas colour I couldn't resist the temptation to use pink.

This is the card:

I stamped and heat embossed the image using white embossing powder.  Then water coloured the image using distress inks.  I wanted to keep the design clean and simple but at the same time add some dimension so I cut a frame into the image and popped the main part of the image up using some fun foam.

I created another card using the same image and colours ... but I'm not sure about the finished card so I'm going to have a think about whether to post it or not!

I used:
Uniko Pure Florals Poinsettia
Distress Inks - Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry
Perfect Pearls

White Christmas, too ...

Another card based on the challenge at "Less is More" and another to add to my Christmas stash - I still haven't found a design that I am happy with and want to make multiple times.  This could mean that everyone gets a "one off" design or that I have to buy cards!!

Lots and lots of white with just a pop of silver.

I used:
X Cut Word die
Versamark ink
Personal Impressions Embossing Powder - Silver Dollar
Uniko: Stunning Snowflakes

Enjoy!

White Christmas ...

It seems that some UK newspapers are already forecasting a white winter with heavy snow on the ground ... I find this hard to believe as the weather forecasters can seldom manage to accurately predict the weather for a week!!!  Anyway this 'fact' must have been playing on  my mind when I sat down to create another Christmas card - apart from the sentiment my card is a classic white on white.

The layout based on this week's challenge at "Less is More" it is sketch week and this card is a literal take on the sketch:-

I embossed the panel using some pure white card and an embossing folder before cutting a slice out on the side.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment before adhering the panel on top using foam adhesive.

Enjoy!

More leaves ...

I really want to develop as a papercraft artist but seem to struggle with anything that isn't clean and simple.  I'd love to create an art journal or a piece on canvas but every time I start I just seem to be faced with a blank page and inspiration making a fast exit out of the nearest open door or window!  I thought if I began by creating more cards with layers and mixed media I might feel more confident but it doesn't seem to be working.  Today's card has taken so much time and now I'm not sure that I even like the finished version!  There are elements that I like but they haven't come together quite how I had imagined!

This is it:

I used:

Spellbinders Nestabilities
Woodware: Happy Birthday
Uniko: Pure Florals - Chrysanthemum
Brass Leaf Stencil
Distress Inks - Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick
Versafine Onyx Black

Single leaf ...

It seems ages since I last posted on my blog ... it been a busy couple of weeks with family coming first!  And a slow time for crafting ... the ideas were lurking but the energy levels were too low and inertia seems to have kept me on the sofa although I have been knitting.

Autumn seems to be the theme in blogland at the moment as well as the season here in the UK ... foggy mornings combined with blue skies and sunshine in the afternoons.  So it all seemed appropriate to create a card with an Autumnal feel.  A simple design combined with warm Autumn colours on a single layer.

I drew and cut out a leaf shape mask before stamping with a selection of distress inks and leaf stamps.   Stamped a sentiment, rounded a couple of corners and all was done - not the most inspiring of ideas but clean and simple!

I used:
Uniko: Natures Treasures 1
            Beautiful Blooms 1
Woodware: Happy Birthday
Distress Inks - Peeled Paint, Festive Berries, Abandoned Coral, Fozzilised Amber, Crushed Olive and Pine Needles

I'm linking up to the following challenges:

Penny Black and More - October challenge - Warm Autumnal colours
